“If you love it, let it go…”
Why put ourselves through this misery,
this pain, this heartache?
Why make ourselves stop loving,
if it’s so difficult for two?
“If you love it, let it go…”
You think no one else will love you,
that you’re not enough,
when I think you’re more.
What if she sweeps you off your feet,
tells you the things I’ve always told you,
will you forget?
“If you love it, let it go…”
I can’t let you go,
they say that I’m young, that time will tell,
but time is so distant from here.
But I don’t wish this away, I’m growing,
and learning things I would never have learned
in my comfort place.
“If you love it, let it go…”
I don’t know what you want,
you say no one else,
only space from me, space from the world.
Did it have to go this far?
Like me, are you hoping, finding, feeling?
There is an answer waiting for you.
“If you love it, let it go…”
I’m the kind that needs structure,
simple resolution and sense.
I haven’t found it. It’s just so complicated.
I’m looking for answers,
going around in circles,
my answer is always you.
“If you love it, let it go…”
You’ve always been the one I turn to,
now I have to turn away,
what is on the path ahead?
I’ve always been so honest with you,
now I must be honest with myself,
what truths will I find?
“If you love it, let it go…”
I think I understand the nature of this,
I just miss you.
