Racing partner and Ford Cobra GT write off.
Yesterday was one of the best days I’ve had in a very long time. I had to get up at 6:30am after not sleeping well the night before, but it was well worth it. It was a beautiful day. My day started with getting ready to go to Lakeside raceway with Dad and his car club, to watch some old cars and motorbikes race. Dad decided to take his Chrysler AP5 Valiant. My brother, John, and his fiancé, Nicole, are both in the car club too and I was really happy to see them both.
John had the package from ThinkGeek for me containing my ‘dark slinky’ and ‘42 towel’ that I’ve mentioned before. Both of them are great! I’m very impressed with the quality of both of them.
When we first arrived at the racetrack we learnt that our cars would be on display, parked in the middle of the race track. What a bonus! We were literally right in the middle of the action.
After the cars had been parked in the display area and we set up our shadey-tent, Dad and I had a go in a V8 simulator, or ‘stimulator’ as Dad was calling it all day, which everyone found amusing. Haha. It was a lot of fun. I kept thinking about how much I’d love to have a ride in a car on a racetrack; or even drive one myself.
On our way back to the area where we were sitting with my brother we stopped in to get some stuff out of the Valiant, and sitting on the front seat of the car was an award for ‘Best Chrysler.’ Dad was stoked; he said it’s the first award the Valiant has ever received. John took a photo of Dad and I with the Valiant and the trophy, so I’ll post that when I get it off John.
After this we learnt that the cars on display would do a ‘Show and Shine,’ which is basically a parade run around the racetrack. I was so excited to learn I’d get a ride on the racetrack, even if it was just a parade run. We were then told that while the first lap would be slow, we’d have 20 minutes afterwards to do as we wish on the racetrack. For those of you who don’t know, my Dad used to race cars.
This was definitely the highlight of my day. We set out as the 3rd car on the track, my brother behind us; however we overtook the 2nd car to line up with the 1st so that there were two lanes of cars. The first lap was great, cruising in the Valiant with the window down, wind in my hair and everyone admiring the beauty of the old cars. This is the Valiant in its prime.
We turned the corner to the straight and there was a man in uniform there waving us on. This was the moment Dad had been waiting for. He floored it and we came out way in front, after reaching 120km/hr. He obviously hasn’t lost touch with his racing skills. We ended up coming up behind the pack of cars we had been leading before they even finished their 1st lap and overtook them all; coming out in front again. Second lap, same thing, overtook everyone.
Up behind us came a brand new Ford GT Cobra (picture below), worth about $80,000 driven by a young guy who obviously thought he could take the old guy in the Valiant. He overtook us on the corner and began to drift. I saw his break lights come on – BIG mistake. If you ever drift in your car, do NOT hit the brakes. Go with it. He lost control and slammed head first into a barrier while still doing 80km/hr or more, the force spinning their car to face us. Dad slammed on the breaks in case the Ford shot back onto the track after being spun around, luckily it didn’t. Since the car was spun around we could see the full extent of the damage which was really horrific, but we could also see that the two people inside were okay. The metal barrier was the same shape as the front of the car. Dad found out today that the car has been written off because there was about $40,000 worth of damage and insurance wouldn’t cover it because it was on a racetrack. Now he calls me his ‘racing partner.’ Hahaha.

Definitely a story to tell my children and grandchildren.
Also my speed capped was lifted and Liam was away for the night so I was able to relax and spend some time with Alan, Lynnette and Nicki watching youtube and playing Nintendo 64.
At the moment I feel like crap because tomorrow is the 22nd. Whatever. I don’t want to talk about it right now. Maybe later.

Live in the now.
So, I realise my last post was a little emo.
Okay, it was oozing emo out the orifices, but I mean you can’t really expect much else. I did just lose my boyfriend of 4 years.
I said in my last post that I wouldn’t be smiling for a while, but I’m feeling better today. I had a nice night spending time with Barry, Kathy and Lucas and then today I had a lot of fun with Madonna and Emily. Madonna and I had the chance to have a really good talk and I definitely feel more clear-headed than before. Last night I also had the chance to talk to my dear friend, Lloyd, who had some really wise words to share with me.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their love and support. I have been overwhelmed with supportive messages from my beautiful family and friends; old and new, namely my siblings, Guinevere, Nicki, Alex, Evan, Keeley, Monnie, Chad, Steph, Emma, Tom, Bolo, Sheridan, Michael, Luke, Michelle, Don, Elliot, Rythn, Fraternity of Valour and Pants Party (If I have forgotten anyone, please don’t hesitate to tell me). I honestly didn’t realise so many people cared, and I feel truly enlightened. All of your words of wisdom have been stored in my heart (sorry if I’m being a little sappy). I even received a beautiful orchid – omgah! XD
No doubt I’ll have my down days, but today was a good one so I thought I better update my blog now so I’m in a good state of mind to give everyone my thanks and show my appreciation.
What I need to do is move on from the life I had with Liam; give him space and find myself. Like they say, “If you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it’s yours, if not, it never was.” I need to concentrate on the now, because really, that’s all we have. Who knows what the future holds.
Liam and I may remain friends for the rest of our lives, or maybe one day we will get back together again. For now I have hope that we will get back together, but not expectation. I’m moving on anyway. No matter what the future holds, I’m so glad he’s a part of my life. He will grow to be a wonderful man, full of strength and determination, as I’m sure everyone will agree.
So thank you to Liam for opening my eyes to life, for your unconditional support and friendship and for giving me so many years of happiness.

Master ninja shenanigans.
I had a very interesting weekend. Saturday night was Liam’s grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary party. Liam and I managed to get up to mischief (we have photo evidence); just little things like swapping our name tags. Some of the old ladies there would actually have been cranky with us if they caught us with the wrong ones, so it totally counts as mischief! Haha.
It was a beautiful night complimented with great food and entertainment. I may or may not have cried when Liam’s grandparents got up to dance together. It was lovely, but my tears were a mixture of inspiration and sadness. I felt sad because a few of Liam’s family have been going through a rough time lately, not to mention Liam and I not knowing where our relationship is going at the moment. We’ll see where the future takes us though.
Sunday night I was planning to go to a BBQ at Liam’s brothers’ house with his family for father’s day, but decided against going for reasons I can not disclose. Instead I invited Nicki and Lynnette over, and we ended up doing all sorts of crazy shenanigans. We started by watching movies on evolution and monkeys, which somehow lead to practising and recording para para. We even started learning a new dance that I don’t know the name of, but you can see it here. It’s rather difficult, we’re way too unfit to be able to pull off some of the moves yet, haha. I then sat back to watch Nicki and Lynnette pull everything out of my bookcase and DVD case in order to build a small staircase for my baby Slinky.
That reminds me! My darling brother, John, has ordered a collector’s edition Dark Slinky and a 42 Utility Towel from www.thinkgeek.com. Can’t wait for them to arrive. Thank you so much John! Totally made my week!
HA! This just in! Some Italian guy just added me on Steam, blatently hitting on me. Seriously. I thoroughly enjoy kicking the asses of guys like this. To all the guys out there who are even thinking of getting on my nerves, I DON’T TAKE CRAP from anyone, and I will not hesitate to run you over with my little car.
I’m totally a master ninja.
